About This Spot

Stepping into White Farms Ice Cream, you’re greeted by a gentle hum of summer memories and the easygoing rhythm of a cherished neighborhood spot. Nestled on Ipswich’s High Street, this longtime gem invites visitors to slow down and savor the simple joys of homemade ice cream in a setting that feels familiar yet always welcoming. There’s a flavor of nostalgia here, paired with an undercurrent of playful fun, where a casual round of mini golf shares the spotlight with hand-scooped delights.

The pace here is unhurried, the mood unpretentious. Families, couples, and longtime locals mingle over cones and sundaes with an authentic warmth that can only come from decades of being part of the community's summers. The menu reflects this spirit — a rotating parade of creative and classic flavors that invite you to linger a little longer: imagine the richness of a chocolate raspberry truffle or the unexpected comfort in a scoop of pumpkin during the cooler months. Flavors like Butter Vanilla and Thai Tea add an intriguing twist, while root beer floats and thick frappes offer a nostalgic nod to ice cream’s soda fountain roots.

One of the most memorable parts of the experience is the unspoken generosity that infuses the place. There’s a casual kindness in the way the team circles back to customers, creating a feeling that you’re not just picking up a treat, but sharing a moment. The cash-only policy, while a modest quirk, is met with a spirit of community that transcends transactions and instead calls back to a simpler era.

White Farms is more than just an ice cream shop — it’s a pause in the day, a chance to reconnect with the sensory joys of creamy sweetness and fresh air. Whether it’s a spontaneous stop on a road trip through Ipswich or a weekend excursion to a favorite casual hangout, the atmosphere keeps you coming back. It’s the kind of place that stays in your memory long after the last lick, because here, the ice cream tastes like home.

First time I've explored Ipswich and stopped here with my girlfriend for an ice cream, we tried the chocolate peanut butter and the pumpkin, the pumpkin was unbelievable, very great pumpkin flavor. I didn't realize that they were cash only, the two small ice creams totaled $12 and I only had $10 cash on me and the girl was so incredibly generous and told us not to worry about it. Thank you! Would definitely come back again!

White Farms Ice Cream in Ipswich has been around for over 50 years and is a place I frequented as a kid. Now, whenever I travel back to this area it is a Must stop for great ice cream. They have over 50 flavors of home-made ice cream both hard and soft serve. Any variation of chocolate is my choice, especially the Chocolate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup while my wife likes the Almond Joy. Prices are fair and the quantity is large. They are easily identified by the cow on the roof. Plenty of tables for seating and an outdoor tent for shade from the summer sun. Mini golf is also available.

White Farms has a huge amount of ice cream choices, it was hard to zero in on only one. The Hot Fudge Sundae, w/ vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, nuts and a cherry was EXO. The sugar-free coffee ice cream in a sugar cone was also enjoyed. We were taken good care of and served by delightful ’Katherine’. Next time, I’ll have a scoop of the Cantaloupe flavor. Plenty of parking and tables are on the side, under a tent.
